Is it the most vital part of cosplay to be able to imitate the character? I wanted to do a cosplay but my shyness gets somewhat in the way...

If you want to be convincing, being able to at least POSE like the character is great! I'm not sure if I'd say that's the most vital part.. but if you're shy, why don't you just cosplay as a shy character? :O
